The following snow sport venues are associated with the SIEPPUR project. Each venue provides data and learnings such that good practices for minimising resource use and improving sustainability can be identified.

Pokljuka, located on a plateau above the stunning Lake Bled, is surrounded by green forests in the heart of the Triglav National Park and has been a staple on the biathlon calendar for decades.
After the World Championships in 2021, the World Cup returned in the first week of 2023.

Martell, Italy

The biathlon stadium of Martell is in the Italian Alps at 1,700m above sea level. It is one of the highest biathlon stadiums in the world, organising international biathlon competitions since 2005. Since 2022, the venue produces electricity for snow production and the main stadium building with its new hydroelectric power plant.
The Roland Arena is located in Lantsch/Lenz, about five kilometres from the village centre of Lenzerheide. Thanks to the multifunctional building architecture, the arena has developed into a well-known sports hotspot.

Lower Silesian Sports Centre has been opened in 2022, the facility is one of the most advanced of its kind in Europe. Its constantly developing infrastructure is a long-awaited addition to the possibilities offered by this unique location in Poland.
The Lower Silesian Sports Centre was created both for amateur athletes who use the dozens of kilometres of ski trails in the Izera Mountains, but also as a training place for professionals preparing for major sporting events. During its several months of operation, the Lower Silesian Sports Centre has already proven itself as a place for biathlon and cross-country skiing competitions, with the Worldloppet federation’s “Bieg Piastów” at the forefront.
Located near Freiburg in the Southern Black Forest region at an altitude of 1120 meters, the Nordic Arena in Notschrei is a national training center for biathlon and cross-country skiing. It provides excellent training conditions for the national teams and for regional young talents alike.

Just 53 km northwest of the city of Brno, the town of Nové Město is a well-known winter sports resort in the Vysočina Region, in the highest part of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. Nové Město played host for the IBU World Championships in 2013 and will host again in 2024.

Kontiolahti and its biathlon stadium is situated on a hill above Lake Höytiäinen, 15 km north of the City of Joensuu in eastern Finland’s Karelia region. The area, dotted with large lakes, rivers and tall pine forests is an outdoor recreation mecca.

Otepää, Estonia

The Tehvandi Sports Centre in Otepää, Estonia hosted its first-ever BMW IBU World Cup in the 2021-22 season. Otepää previously hosted the IBU Youth Junior World Championships, the IBU Open European Championships, IBU Cups and the IBU Summer Biathlon World Championships. The venue with a long history of FIS Cross-Country World Cups has been remodeled, expanded and improved over the years into a modern biathlon facility. Its 1,300 seat tribune faces the always windy shooting range, with rolling tracks that cut through the forest. A small place with a big heart – this is the best way to describe the Winter Capital of Estonia.
The Biathlon Stadium is located close to the city of Östersund. The stadium has hosted annual IBU World Cups since 1989 and two IBU World Championships. Every year it produces and stores 60 000 cubic meters of snow to guarantee good conditions for the next season.
